Thanks for the Memories,
I truly believe that Old West Lodge has fully recovered from the restrictive years of Covid and has joined in harmony to build a better tomorrow. ~ Old West Master, 2023
Dear Brothers and Families of Freemasonry,
As someone who naturally gravitates towards task-oriented reflection, I find myself looking back on our extraordinary year with pride and gratitude. This year has been marked by notable achievements: welcoming newcomers to our Masonic family, supporting brothers in their progression through various degrees, and rekindling bonds with those who had previously drifted from our lodge. We've embraced the vibrancy of our interactions, felt the poignant emotions at memorial services, and reveled in the connections made with our younger members and their families. Our community initiatives, the honoring of our esteemed Golden Veterans, and the prestigious Hiram Award Ceremony have all underscored our unwavering commitment. Moreover, the camaraderie, fellowship, and fun of our shared experiences have fostered both learning and enjoyment. We've experienced the dynamic energy of our communications, our contributions to the community, the celebration of our fraternity stand as testaments to our dedication.
Nevertheless, amidst these achievements, what resonates most profoundly with me is the honor of returning to my home, Old West Lodge. Being entrusted with your confidence and respect, to contribute meaningfully to our collective journey, has been a privilege of a lifetime. Yet, it's not just my efforts, but the collective spirit and dedication of all of you that truly drive our success. Many of you have remained active, ensuring the lodge is a welcoming and fruitful place for all. These experiences and memories are treasures that I will forever hold dear.
As we reflect on our lives, it is these memories, these moments of shared effort and camaraderie, that truly matter and define us.
With heartfelt appreciation and brotherly love, I thank you for your service this year and look forward to many more in the years to come with our future leaders and workers of the craft.
May the light of Masonry continue to shine on us all as a Pillar of Wisdom.
Fraternally and sincerely yours,
Michael Schneider, PM

Brethren of Old West Lodge,
As we approach the year's end, it's a momentous occasion to look back and appreciate our collective achievements as a Lodge. This year has indeed marked significant progress and has positively impacted the enduring vitality of our Lodge.
Reflecting on the year's journey is especially meaningful for Freemasons, as it paves the way for deep personal evolution and enrichment.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Worshipful Schneider for his unwavering dedication in maintaining the vibrancy and engagement of Old West Lodge. His efforts have drawn in a group of enlightened individuals, who have greatly contributed to the prestige and honor of our venerable institution.
His remarkable dedication has not only kept Old West Lodge flourishing but also amplified the essence of Masonry in various aspects of our lives, including our workplaces, places of worship, and communities.
Let's join together in celebrating our Lodge's achievements this year. Let us also embrace the Grand Master's vision for the upcoming year and continue our commitment to "Sharing the Light of Freemasonry."
Thank you for your attention, and may your journey through Freemasonry be a pillar of strength.
Fraternally,

Dear Esteemed Brothers and Cherished Members of Old West Lodge,
As we step into the festive month of December, I am delighted to extend my warmest Christmas greetings and holiday wishes to each respected member of our esteemed lodge. Observing the continuous advancement of our distinguished lodge fills me with immense joy.
It is my pleasure to wholeheartedly welcome our new Entered Apprentices, Fellow Crafts, and Master Masons. Together, we look forward to strengthening our fraternal bonds and embracing the unity that defines us.
In our Masonic journey, we are continually guided by the profound teachings of our order. The adage "As All Brothers and Fellows have done who have gone this way before" reminds us that the light of ancient wisdom, rather than modern thought, illuminates our path.
I would also like to highlight the extraordinary privilege our lodge enjoys in having Most Worshipful Larry Adamson, a Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of California, as a member. His extensive experience is a guiding light in our Masonic endeavors, a benefit that not every lodge can claim. I am deeply honored that he presented me with the Hiram Award this month.
May the spirit of brotherhood and the teachings of Freemasonry continue to thrive within the hallowed halls of Old West Lodge.
In the South, we stand unified, representing the very essence of the pillar of beauty!
Sincerely and fraternally,
From the South Bro Ron Gutierrez , PM

Brother Navid, recently achieving certification as a Medical Doctor and currently practicing at Henry Mayo Hospital, has committed his time to take on a role in the Officer line for 2024. He has been actively involved in the lodge's activities and demonstrated his compassion when he noticed a fellow brother in distress. Navid promptly extended his assistance and provided care until the brother's well-being was fully restored. This selfless act, coupled with the application of his medical expertise, embodies the true spirit of our lodge, where members unite to offer mutual support. In recognition of his gracious and caring character, Navid has been honored with the prestigious Master's Lion of the Lodge pin.

The lion has, for ages, stood as a symbol of strength, sovereignty, courage, bravery, agility, and dignity. In medieval symbolism, a prominent legend emerged, grounded in the belief that a lion cub was initially born stillborn but could only be revived by the roaring of its father. This belief gave rise to the lion becoming an emblem of rebirth and regeneration.
In Freemasonry, the concept of the lion's rebirth serves as a potent symbol of reformation and revitalization. The lion embodies strength and courage, while its rebirth signifies the transformation and renewal of the individual. Within our context, the Master's Lion of the Lodge pin can be regarded as a symbol for someone who endeavors to elevate the lodge, making it better than it was before through their actions.
The Master intends to bestow this pin only once upon each brother, with the hope that as many brothers as possible will receive it. Imagine the joy of witnessing the lodge's continuous growth and improvement, symbolized by this distinguished honor.

Brother Steve Hill has been a charismatic and engaging presence in Old West Lodge from the moment he first joined. Despite his relatively short time as a Mason, he is already on track to be raised early next year. During our most recent stated meeting, Brother Steve presented an inspiring idea: for the lodge to support a local charity, and he generously volunteered to lead the initiative. His dedication, leadership, and willingness to volunteer embody the qualities that drive our lodge's growth. In recognition of his outstanding initiative, Brother Steve has been honored with the Master's Lion of the Lodge pin.

Eastern Star Report
Your Eastern Star Chapter continues to grow! We initiated a new member in December, we are planning on initiating THREE in January, and will hopefully initiate another new member in February!
Thank you to all who attended our annual "Holiday Breakfast and Boutique", AKA "Breakfast With Santa". If you left hungry, its your own fault! Also this month we had a cookie exchange, a Christmas Light viewing party, and made corsages for the Lodge Installation.
ALL Lodge members are invited to the Kelley household on Thursday December 28 for a "pre-New Years Eve" party! It will be at our house, please RSVP - see the flyer for details.
Our project to make blankets for Project Linus and Young Survivors Coalition will resume next month. These are really simple, no skills required - even a Past Master (me) can do them! Our next "party" will be Thursday January 18 from 4:30PM to 9:00PM (flyer coming soon). Drop in anytime, leave when you have to. Anyone and everyone is invited to help.
Thank you to those that attend our "dine-outs". Our Wednesday January 24 dine-out is scheduled for ALL Panda Express restaurants across the country! Just order online and use code 920174 in the "fundraiser" box on check-out! You can then pick up the food at your local Panda Express. Come on out, have some food, socialize, AND help out a concordant body! I'll have flyers at Stated Meeting.
Eastern Star is an organization for MASONS and their wives, and other female relations. We could certainly use more men in the Eastern Star (you do not need to join with your wife), please talk to me anytime

Widows Report
We have delivered a basket of goodies to all the local widows, and sent Christmas cards to those out of the area. Many thanks to those that helped deliver!
I'd like to host a "widow's luncheon", perhaps early next year, but I could use some help.
Respectfully,
Doug Kelley

DeMolay Report
No sooner did school let out than the rain started coming down, so we haven't done much in the way of activities for Decemeber. However, we are actively working on having a couple of prospect parties, so stay tuned!
HOWEVER, on December 29, Old West DeMolay will be travelling to another Chapter to assist in initiating a new member for our Chapter (and a couple for their Chapter), so we are slowly growing, but growing indeed!
Old West DeMolay normally meets second and fourth Fridays, but because of the holidays, in November and December we only meet on the 2nd Fridays. Unfortunately, we have lost a couple of advisors, so we need your active assistance. Register to be a "Dad" (or "Mom"!), as well as recommending young men to our Chapter. We really need YOU to step up and help!
